가정에서 영상으로 예배드리게 되는 때에, 용어와 개념을 정리하고 필요한 부분들을 성도 여러분께 당부합니다.
- 주일예배를 “취소”한 것 아닙니다. “교회가 문을 닫은 것” 혹은 “교회 폐쇄된 것”이 아닙니다. 교회의 결정을 통해 주일예배의 장소를 가정으로 임시 변경 혹은 확장한 것입니다. “가정에서 드리는 주일예배”입니다.
- “온라인예배”나 “영상예배”가 아닙니다. 예수님께서 예배당으로부터 온라인을 타고 Youtube를 통해서 오시는 것이 아닙니다. 예수님은 성도들이 예배하는 그 장소 곧 가정에 계시는 것입니다. “가정예배” 혹은 “그 장소에서 드리는 예배” 입니다. 다만 영상으로 교회 공동체와 함께 말씀을 듣는 것이지요.
- 예배장소에 대한 결정은 개개인이 마음대로 내릴 수 있는 것이 아닙니다. 각 교회가 공식적인 결정 (당회)을 통해서 예배의 장소를 정하는 것입니다. 그러니, 교회가 다시 예배당에 모이기로 한 후에는, 온라인을 통해 자율적으로 예배를 드리는 것은 자제하시기 바랍니다.
- 물론, 어느 곳에서 예배를 드리던지 하나님께서 받으시는 예배는 맞습니다. 다만 “벧엘성결교회”의 멤버로서 그 교회의 예배에 참여한 것은 아니게 되는 것이지요.
- 개인 예배도 중요하지만, 교회에 있어서는 모여서 드리는 예배가 훨씬 더 중요합니다. 하나님은 우리를 인격체로, 교제하는 존재로 부르셨기에 하나님과의 교제뿐 아니라 성도간의 교제도 필요하며, 그안에 교회됨이 드러나게 되기 때문입니다. 그러므로, 공동체가 함께 모여 예배드리는 것이 원칙입니다.
- 또한 예배당에 모이지 않는다고 해서 하나님께 드려야할 부분들에 소홀히 하지않도록 해야합니다.어려울때 일수록 힘써 드리는것은 가난한 과부의 두렙돈을 칭찬하신 예수님의 마음과 같은 것입니다. 이부분은 교회가 정한 방법을 따라 주시고 아래에 설명되어 있으니 참고해주시기 바랍니다.
- 마지막으로 “비상적 상황에서 드리는 특수한 예배”라는 사실을 기억하고, 정확한 용어를 사용하면서 예배를 드리게 되어야 할 것입니다. 부디 이러한 개념이 우리 벧엘가족 여러분들에게 충분하게 이해되길 바라면서 어려울때 일수록 합심하고 하나되어 극복나가길 주의 이름으로 소망합니다.

Online Service Information
To all Bethel church members,
In complying with Canada Health’s recommendations in respect to COVID-19, Bethel’s Session has decided to fully switch over all church worship services to online live-streaming. During this temporary measure, kindly be advised that:
- Sunday worship services are NOT cancelled, nor is the church closed. It is a temporary measure taken to extend the accessibility of Sunday worship services so that congregation members can worship together with their families at home. Therefore, it is “Sunday worship service at home.”
- Our new online worship format does not limit God’s ability to encounter and meet us. It is not simply a “video recording” but a live worship service that the saints of Bethel participate in together. The Church is not a physical building. Christ transcends physical space and encounters us wherever our place of worship may be. We are worshiping together online because it is the responsibility of the Christian to slow the spreading of the virus so that all of humanity has an opportunity to flourish.
- The decision regarding the place of worship is not up to individuals to decide. Each church decides the place of worship through an official decision made by the Session of Elders. Therefore, when church leadership re-evaluates and discerns that it is time to transition back to worship together again in the physical sanctuary, please follow with the decision of the church’s leadership.
- Of course, wherever our place of worship God’s presence does not change. God will always receive our praise. However, as a member of “Bethel Church”, whenever possible, we should still worship together as one body.
- Personal worship with God is important, but there is tremendous importance in corporate worship as well. Because God calls us both as a person and as a community, we need not only fellowship with God, but also fellowship with each other. The church is built up in this way. Therefore, it is the priority of the Christian to participate in corporate worship whenever possible.
- In addition, during the time away from the physical sanctuary, we are still called to respond to God’s goodness and grace. One way that Christians respond to God during Sunday worship services is by being faithful stewards. As faithful stewards, we continue to give our tithes and gifts to the Lord–outwardly expressing that all we have is His. Please refer to the church’s tithing and offering guides below.
- Lastly, please keep in mind that we have entered into a time of “special worship in an emergency state,” and we should continue to worship God using the correct terminology. We trust that this concept will be fully understood by our beloved Bethel family and we hope to overcome this difficult time – becoming more unified than ever, in Jesus’ name.
